Assessments & Evaluations
A Clear Starting Point. Understanding your relationship with substances is often the first step toward meaningful change. Our substance use assessments are conducted in a respectful, nonjudgmental environment where you can speak openly about your experiences.
During the assessment, we review:
Frequency, quantity, and types of substances used
Patterns, triggers, and consequences related to use
Social, environmental, and support factors
Relevant history that may impact recovery planning
This structured process helps determine the appropriate level of care and lays the foundation for personalized, recovery-focused treatment planning.
Substance Use Assessment
A DUI can feel overwhelming. Our DUI evaluations are conducted with professionalism and objectivity, meeting court and DMV requirements while providing a respectful space for honest discussion.
DUI evaluations include:
Review of substance use history
Relevant driving history
Risk factors related to substance use
We provide documentation that meets legal standards and, when appropriate, recommendations for education or treatment services.
You are more than your charge. Our role is to help you fulfill requirements while supporting responsible next steps.
DUI Evaluation
(49 CFR Part 40 Compliance)
For safety-sensitive employees regulated by DOT agencies (FMCSA, FTA, FRA, FAA, PHMSA, USCG), we provide Substance Abuse Professional (SAP) evaluations in accordance with federal guidelines.
SAP evaluations:
Assess whether education or treatment is required
Follow DOT compliance standards
Support safe return-to-duty processes
These evaluations are conducted with objectivity, clarity, and respect for your professional responsibilities.

BEGIN YOUR recovery JOURNEY
1:1 sessions
Individual Recovery-Focused Counseling
Individual sessions provide dedicated, one-on-one support as you work toward recovery from substance use. This is a space for honest conversation, practical planning, and steady progress. These sessions are collaborative—supportive and honest—so you leave each appointment with clarity and something concrete to work on.
In our work together, we’ll focus on:
Understanding your triggers and patterns
Strengthening relapse prevention strategies
Building coping and emotional regulation skills
Setting realistic, achievable recovery goals
Navigating setbacks without losing momentum
Recovery isn’t linear. There may be stress, ambivalence, or unexpected challenges along the way. Individual sessions offer structure, accountability, and support so you can respond differently—rather than react automatically.
Our goal is to help you build stability, confidence, and tools that you can sustain long-term—not just short-term motivation.
GROUP sUPPORT
Structured Groups for Recovery Skills & Connection
Group support is a core part of recovery. It’s where people practice new skills in real time, get honest feedback, and realize they’re not the only one carrying this.
Our substance use groups are structured, recovery-focused sessions led by a trained substance use counselor. Groups provide a safe, supportive environment to explore patterns of use, strengthen coping and emotional regulation skills, and build relapse prevention strategies you can actually use outside of session.
In group, you can expect:
Practical skill-building (coping strategies, relapse prevention, communication tools)
Support and accountability from people working toward similar goals
Encouragement, perspective, and real-world problem solving
A respectful, nonjudgmental space—guided and facilitated, not chaotic
One of the biggest benefits of group support is connection. Addiction thrives in isolation; recovery grows in community. In group, participants often find relief in being understood, strength in shared experience, and motivation from seeing others make progress—especially during the weeks when it feels hard to believe change is possible.
Payment options (private pay)
Reaching out for help takes courage. Paying for services shouldn’t feel confusing or uncomfortable—so we keep it clear and straightforward.
Edge Counseling is a private-pay (self-pay) practice. This means clients pay directly for services at the time of appointment, and we do not bill insurance.
Many people choose private pay for a few important reasons:
Privacy & Confidentiality
Because we don’t bill insurance, services are not submitted to a third-party payer. For many clients, this provides an added layer of privacy and peace of mind.
Care That’s Tailored to You
Without insurance restrictions, sessions can be based on your needs and goals—not on authorization rules, required diagnoses, or limits on frequency. We collaborate with you to create a recovery-focused plan that’s realistic and sustainable.
Clear, Simple Pricing
No claims. No prior authorizations. No surprise denials. You’ll know the cost up front so you can make an informed decision and focus fully on recovery.
Planning for Cost
If finances are a concern, you’re not alone. Recovery is an investment—and we’ll help you choose a plan that balances support with what’s sustainable.
Limited reduced-rate (sliding scale) options may be available based on financial need and current availability. This can be discussed during your initial assessment.
